This was the 1st SEMA Show that I didn't see George anywhere. You could always count on finding him flirting with the gals or kabitzing with Linda Vaughn after the show in the bar at the LVH.

This year, there was no trademark gold jacket to be seen anywhere, not even during the show. We got to talk with Gene, Linda, & a host of others, but no George. We were quite confused by his absence, then Thursday morning, we got the bad news about his passing. Damn, it sure took the gloss off this year's event for many of us.

Thanks George Barris, you gave us the Hirohita Merc, Sam's Merc, the Kopper Kart, the Surf Woody, ala Kart, the Batmobile, the Munster's Coach, Dragula, & so much more...

GodSpeed, Sir. The hobby will never be the same without your gift of showmanship & special brand of glamour.
